“The event is a fun way to get to know people from Winnipeg’s African communities and human rights activist communities. It doesn’t matter where you’re from; we’re all working for the rights of women and girls, said MW4WSS’ President, Elizabeth Andrea. “This is about community. We have been given so much and we wanted to give back.”
The community barbeque, taking place at St. Vital Park Picnic Site 1 on Saturday August 24th, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. is free to attend. Food and drink is also free. There will be crafts from Africa for sale, and there will be a raffle later in the afternoon. People of all ages are welcome to attend. It is recommended that attendees make a small donation. Proceeds from the event will go towards MW4WSS initiates. For more information, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org, or find us on Facebook at @women4womensouthsudan.
This past year, MW4WSS worked alongside many others partner organizations to send two women from rural South Sudan to Rwanda. There, they received training in trauma, healing, and conflict resolution. In March of 2019, these women traveled to rural South Sudan to offer a trauma, healing, and peacebuilding workshop for the community. MW4WSS is incredibly proud of these women and our partners, and with the help of our amazing supporters, we hope to build on this work in 2020.
A great event with amazing speakers! Come check it out on March 8th. For more details, please check out our facebook event page:
